Global Chairman Christopher Fussner led the Republicans Abroad Member delegation from France, Germany, Norway, Luxembourg and Switzerland to London for the two day conference that that was attended by about 400 persons altogether. It ‘kicked off’ with a welcome dinner hosted by Stacy Hilliard, Vice Chairman and RA UK, for all members from the UK and abroad and for special guests, RNC Committeeman Solomon Yue and RNC Legal Advisor Jon Waclawski. The Thursday dinner held at “The Cinnamon Club,” in the vicinity of Parliament was attended by 50 guests with Tim Montgomerie, co-founder of the Centre for Social Justice and Editor of Conservative Home as the guest speaker. He spoke of “American Exceptionalism”… (evoking his famous “A world without America” video of 2007) in preparation for the 2012 presidential election and the other races for political office..
At 10:00 AM, the following morning, RA-UK Chairman Tom Grant greeted Republicans Abroad and Conservative friends at the Boothroyd Parliamentary Committee Room in Portcullis House, Westminster, for a series of conferences and panel discussions that were hosted by the Hon. Chris Kelly, MP.
The first guest speaker was Ed Goeas III of the Tarrance Group, who participated via teleconference and gave his views on polls, campaigns, battleground states, and the issues that are important to the American electorate. Mark Kennedy, former Member of Congress from Minnesota and National Finance Committee Chairman, Pawlenty for President, led the discussion with Mike Magan Senior Vice President at Legatum, who was a former Senior Director at the National Security Council and Special Assistant to the President George H. W. Bush.
Following the discussion, a luncheon, was served at the “Bishop Partridge Hall”, overlooking the Dean’s Yard of Westminster, which caters to both Houses of Parliament. In such a private venue, members of Republicans Abroad, led by Global Chairman Chris Fussner and European Regional Chairman David Knower, engaged in what was labeled as “A conversation with RNC.” This discussion involved RNC representatives, Solomon Yue and Jon Waclawski. They talked about the possibility of creating a new project within the RNC, called “RNC Abroad”, which could be designed to strengthen the RNC’s involvement with Americans overseas. It would operate in parallel to Republicans Abroad and would manage tasks outside the purview of Republicans Abroad country chapters.
The first panel discussion in the early afternoon, also took place in the Boothroyd Parliamentary Committee Room, at Portcullis House and was hosted by the Hon. Chris Kelly, M.P.
Members of the panel included: Emily L. The key issues discussed were “of a regional, transnational and internal nature..,” the result of what many are labeling as a “balance of power shift” in global affairs. Involved were a myriad of topics from global warming to terrorism, from immigration to trade (illegal and legal); from internal radicalization to border security-all issues affecting societies around the world and the impact on Asia, Europe and the US.
Norman Lamont, Baron of Lerwick, was the “Keynote Speaker” for the “2011 European Regional Meeting”. Lord Lamont served as Chancellor of the Exchequer under Prime Minister John Major and was elevated to the peerage in 1998 after long distinguished service in Parliament and Government.. Lord Lamont shared his views on “The Eurozone, Sovereign Debt and the Challenges Ahead,” for the US and Europe and answered questions posed by some of the more than 100 attendees at this session.
After a short and educational quick tour of the Parliament (Westminster Hall), Members of Republicans Abroad joined about 250 RA-UK specially invited guests at Bloomberg UK headquarters to hear the last panel discussion at an event that was closed to the Media.
Presented by RA European Regional Chairman David Knower, RA-UK Chairman Tom Grant and moderated by Ken Leet, Granite Ridge LLP, he is a former Partner at Goldman Sachs and former President of Cerberus European Capital Advisors. The topic under discussion was “Navigating the Great Recession--Leadership and Change in a Time of Crisis”. On Saturday, the European leadership of Republicans Abroad met in Executive Session to hear Chris Fussner, David Knower and Stacy Hilliard discuss Republican Abroad’s plans to become proactive in creating the kinds of programs that will engender overseas American support for the 2012 Republican candidate for President. Overall, the conference was an enormous success, much was accomplished and Republicans Abroad looks forward to be an effective force in the 2012 election.

Did you know that ,"two hundred years after the declaration of independence, Americans living abroad had no vote and no voice in government. As Taxation without representation was the issue that triggered the American Revolution, the disenfranchised citizens, inspired by the Sons of Liberty, organized a massive letter-writing campaign, stuffing tea bags into envelopes and mailing them to their representatives in Washington, D.C. As a result, in 1976, President Gerald Ford signed a bill permitting Americans overseas to register and vote absentee in congressional primaries and elections. Since 1978, Republicans Abroad mobilizes Americans overseas to support Republican candidates in US Elections!"...

More...on Republicans Abroad...
Most of the valued assets of membership in Republicans Abroad are the relationships which have been built over the years, as a result of the extensive network. In these unique forums, prominent Republican leaders meet and brief members on developments in Congress on foreign policy, US Taxes and budgets.
Throughout the year, we also haveLeadership series Conferences, which bring the chapter chairmen and members to participate in Q & A sessions, via teleconference, with Republican leaders. This year we had the honor to count with Gov. Haley Barbour R-MS and Grover Norquist, President of AmericaNS for tax reform
The primary mission of Republicans Abroad is to integrate Americans, especially those who adhere to the principles of the Republican Party, into the election process. Republicans Abroad strives to reach the estimated 4-6 million voters overseas. In past elections, Republicans Abroad has helped deliver crucial votes to Republican candidates facing close elections on the federal, state and local levels.
The country chapter is the basic building block of Republicans Abroad and every country committee belongs to one of the following four regions—Europe, Western Hemisphere, Asia/Pacific or Middle East/Africa.
“Getting the vote out” during election years, is the principal mandate of Republicans Abroad and its most important function. For many years, some Americans outside the US were not aware that they could be eligible to vote, nor did they know how to register. The 50 Republicans Abroad Chapters have, since 1978, voluntarily assisted overseas Americans to register and vote.
One of the fundamental methods employed for “getting out the vote” is through print and internet advertising! Republicans Abroad has, through the years, promoted our Party's principles in international media.
"After living overseas for over 25 years, Republicans Abroad is my political home."Christopher Fussner, Global Chairman
