Congressman Steve King (R) representing the State of Iowa's 5 District, will share his views on the conservative movement in the U.S. and the upcoming election via tele-conference. Steve is currently running for re-election as are all members of the U.S. House of Representatives. A small business owner, Steve served 6 years in the Iowa State Senate before being elected to the U.S. Congress in 2002. Iowa's 5th District has a strong agriculture base and is one of the most productive areas for bio renewable fuels in the United States.
King’s very first bill in Congress was an expansion of a tax credit to small ethanol and biodiesel producers. His language was included in the Energy Users Act of 2005, which President George W. Bush signed into law.
As 97% of Iowa’s businesses are small business, King received a special waiver to serve on the House Small Business Committee so he could work to restrict government regulations that impede the growth of business and jobs.
John Henrik Gilhuus President of the Monticello Society and commentator for NRK on U.S. politics will present a brief overview of the 4 November election and up to date prospects and projections of important races.
